Squiz redesign gives DBCDE website a digital facelift
The main focus of the project was to provide clearer access to current key activities by using appropriate visual cues including images. For the Australian population this means faster access to content along with news, features and better presentation of quick links and other items of public interest. The site can be accessed at www.dbcde.gov.au.
For the DBCDE website redesign project, Squiz utilised the newly developed “Squiz Solutions” which takes a holistic approach to project implementation and involved a two phase process. Phase one involved analysis and build specification work necessary to determine the impact of making the design and implementation changes. Phase two involved applying the approved Squiz design creative work to the unchanged existing content – affording a completely new look and feel for the DBCDE website.
Squiz Solutions proved to be a great success with the brief calling for several graphic design concepts with rounds of minor revisions to the chosen theme. The site design also had to meet WCAG 2.0 compliance level AA, be cross browser compliant, and incorporate recommendations from the AGIMO web publishing guide.
During the 11 years Squiz has been providing web solutions, they have built a wide portfolio of Australian Federal and State government customers with DBCDE having been a customer for some time. That success is now being replicated overseas with a growing customer base in the UK and Europe.
